Terms of Service

Nubecita is a free, open-source native Android client for the Bluesky social network, built on the AT Protocol. By installing and using Nubecita ("the app"), you agree to these terms. They are intentionally short — most of the real rules come from Bluesky itself.

The service

Nubecita is a third-party Bluesky client. It connects to your Personal Data Server (PDS, typically bsky.social) and lets you read, post, and otherwise interact with Bluesky from your Android device. Nubecita does not run a backend service of its own; all activity happens between your device and your PDS.

License and source code

Nubecita is open source. The source code lives at github.com/kikin81/nubecita and is distributed under the license specified in that repository. The compiled Android app distributed through Google Play is free to download and use. An optional paid subscription, Nubecita Pro, unlocks a few extra perks (see below); it is never required to use the app.

Nubecita Pro (optional subscription)

Nubecita Pro is an optional, auto-renewing subscription sold through Google Play. It is offered as a way to support continued development; the free app remains fully functional without it.

• Plans and price. Pro is available as a monthly or an annual plan. The price is shown in the app and on Google Play in your local currency before you purchase.
• Billing and renewal. Payment is charged to your Google Play account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically at the same price each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel at any time in Google Play → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.
• Refunds are handled by Google Play under its refund policies.
• What Pro unlocks. Convenience and cosmetic perks — currently picture-in-picture video playback and a Supporter badge shown on your own profile. Pro never gates moderation, safety, or any core Bluesky feature.
• Account binding. Pro is tied to your Google Play account, not your Bluesky account, so it follows you across devices via Google Play's "restore purchases".

Billing and subscription management are handled by Google Play and by RevenueCat, our subscription-management provider. What data this involves is described in our Privacy Policy.

Your Bluesky account and content

Your Bluesky account, posts, follows, messages, and any other social activity are governed by your PDS provider. If you use Bluesky's PDS, that includes Bluesky's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Violations of those terms can lead to your account being limited or removed by Bluesky — Nubecita has no ability to override or appeal those decisions.

Acceptable use

You agree to use Nubecita only for lawful purposes and in compliance with the terms of your PDS. You may not use the app to harass, abuse, or impersonate others, to distribute malware, to bypass content moderation imposed by your PDS, or to attempt to compromise the security of Bluesky, other users, or third-party services Nubecita interacts with.

Third-party services

Nubecita communicates with services operated by Bluesky (the AT Protocol PDS), media hosts (image and video CDNs referenced in posts), Google (Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics, and Google Play Billing for Pro), and RevenueCat (subscription management for Pro). Their handling of your data is described in our Privacy Policy and is subject to their own terms of service.

Disclaimer of warranties

Nubecita is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The maintainers do not guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with future Android or Bluesky changes.

Machine-translated content. Nubecita's interface is authored in English. Translations into other languages are generated automatically by AI / machine-translation systems (including in-app resources and any translations applied by the Google Play Store) and are not reviewed by professional human translators. They are provided for convenience only and may contain inaccuracies, errors, or omissions. In the event of any discrepancy, the English version controls.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the maintainers of Nubecita will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the app — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a material way, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change and the revised terms will be posted at this URL before the change takes effect. Continued use of the app after the change indicates acceptance of the revised terms.
